Curriculum/Instruction

Faculty and staff in the Early Learning Department believe that Learning is the result of the interaction between a child’s thoughts and experiences with materials, ideas, people, and the environment. The early learning program respects and responds to individual patterns and timing of physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth. The development of each child’s self-confidence and a positive attitude toward learning are integral components. The children are encouraged to select many of their own activities from a carefully prepared learning environment including dramatic play, building blocks, science, social studies, math, games and puzzles, books, art, Spanish, and music.

Building self-confidence and encouraging risk-taking are hallmarks of the Upper Learning Department. As students delve deeper into content, their love of learning, exploration, and investigation continues. The academic program focuses on the acquisition and application of process skills in reading, writing, and problem-solving using a wide variety of learning materials. Infused throughout the curriculum, technology serves as a powerful learning tool.
