Upper Learning Department (2nd-6th)

"Learning is a joyous, lifelong passage. Ours is a learning community, an environment that fosters and nurtures learning and understanding for each child. As educators, we continuously reflect on what we can do to engage each child in his or her learning and to build an environment where understanding and growth are central to all activity.”

— Dr. Angél Kytle, Ph.D., Upper Learning Department Coordinator

The goal in the Upper Learning Department is to create learners who are responsible for their own learning and who understand how learning is best accomplished. Embedded in this process are qualities of both the intellect and character. Such complex experiences require learning that is designed around various subject areas and is grounded in flexibility, inquiry, discovery, investigation, creativity, and good judgment.
